The technology has greatly impacted the manufacturing on functional handbags. With the vastly growing technology devices comes cases and portable protection. With each new i pad, i pod touch, mac-book air, tablet, etc that comes out, so does a new carrying device. Fashion combined with function is the name of the game with technology.
One of the only designers who has really been active in the technology meets function movement is Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs makes laptop cases as well as i phone and i pod cases. They are sold at apple stores, Nordstrom, Saks 5th Avenue, and Neiman Marcus and online, making it so if consumers want a 'designer' case, more often than not it is Marc Jacobs.

A trend that Trendy Trend predicts will show up this decade is more and more designers participating in the technology functional case trend. Right now only a few designers are really on board but sooner than later I can envision many designers making laptop cases, i pod/i phone cases, i pad cases, brief cases, etc for the always growing technology.
